Availability:  You can order directly from the Kiko or in store.  I typically get my Kiko products from their store in Nürnberg however they have numerous locations throughout Europe which you can find more information about by clicking here and choosing your country.  I believe this was a limited edition item, but at the time I posted this review Peacock Green and the other three holographic colors were still available on the Kiko website at the discounted price (They usually are €3,90 – €4,90).

My Two Cents:   In all honesty I did not have high expectations initially but I was pleasantly surprised.  Peacock Green turned out to be really beautiful and applied rather nicely.  As with all holographic nail polishes you run the risk of streaking or “bald” spots, but that can be remedied with different application techniques or by adding another coat.  I wore this quite a while back, but I do remember that the wear time was pretty average before I experienced any chipping.

I quite like Kiko products and while I find their products to be a bit hit or miss, I have definitely found a few things that I really do love, this polish included.  Peacock Green is only my second go at their nail products, although I have another holographic shade in my stock pile, but you just can’t beat the price.  Not only are Kiko nail lacquers affordable, but they have such a huge color range and continually put out new limited edition colors.

Tips:  You definitely need a base coat for holographic colors and if you have uneven nails with ridges then a ridge filling base coat can help achieve a more smooth perfect finish.  Also, be sure to not be stingy when applying this by making sure you have a good amount of product on the brush and do long even strokes.  Seal with a high shine top coat to really bring out the holographic effect.

Something Similar:  Pupa – 32 Holographic Emerald, Depend – 2036 Ocean Green, Layla – Mermaid Spell.

I really wish that some other more affordable brands like Wet n Wild, and Essence will eventually come out with some holographic nail colors as it seems that most of the ones on the market at the moment are on the pricier side.  If you’re looking to jump on the holo band wagon then check out brands like A England, Catherine Arley, Color Club, China Glaze, Glitter Gal, Gosh, Hits, Jade, Layla, and Pupa, just to name a few.  As always, thanks for reading and check back soon.

Kiko Haul

Back in February I embarked on a trip to Verona Italy and while I was there I discovered first hand the joy of Kiko Milano cosmetics.  Kiko Milano is an affordable Italian cosmetics company with stores all over Europe. Their stores are super sleek and modern looking and not only do they have ton of products on display, but there is also a tester for each and every product included in the display as well for your swatching enjoyment.  I know it sounds too good to be true, but it’s not a myth.  I really wish I could have just snuck a picture of two to share with you.  Anyhow, I had no clue that there was a Kiko store in Nürnberg until one of my lovely friends informed me that one did exist.  For those of you who don’t know, I live in a tiny little village in Germany and although it is right outside of a larger city, well that city isn’t so big and does not exactly offer a whole lot in terms of shopping.  So naturally being the nearest larger city, Nürnberg is my go to shopping destination.  Since the Captain and I were going to be passing by on our way to München on Friday I figured it wouldn’t be too much trouble to stop by the Kiko store there.  München also has a few Kiko stores but they were a bit out of the way for us since none of them are close to the city center for some reason.

Once we arrived at the mall where the Kiko store was located no time was wasted and we just asked where the store was (there were only thirty minutes on the parking meter for one, and secondly I like a challenge).  As soon as I got in the store I got down to business and started checking out the new products and swatching like a mad woman, my hands seriously looked like an artsy pre-schooler had been let loose on them.  Next I made a mad dash for a shopping basket and whipped out my phone to retrieve Mayti’s wish list.  Well doesn’t it figure I couldn’t access it because it was too far back in the history of our Facebook Messenger conversation from the night before.  It wasn’t just me either, because my Tech Support was with me (i.e. Captain Canada) and he couldn’t even get it to go back further in the archive.  Initially I wasn’t too flustered though because I knew the color names of the products she wanted.  As soon as I began checking the packaging for the color names I was began to panic because they were nowhere to be found as they only had the color numbers on the packaging.  Which, for the record is absolutely ridiculous especially considering the fact that both the color names and numbers are listed on their website.  Thanks for nothing on that front Kiko!  Once I had collected myself and my emotions, I got back to work since amazingly I had some recollection of some of the color numbers astonishingly, and the sales girl was kind enough to offer her help as well.  Once I had Mayti’s things stowed away in my basket then I made my final decisions at the urging of the Time Police Officer that had accompanied me, and high tailed it over to the check out and back to the car just in the nick of time.

For those inquiring minds who are wondering how good my memory was, well it turns out I got two out of the four things Mayti requested right.  Not too shabby if I do say so myself.  No matter though because I’ll be heading back down south in another week and a half so I can pick up the correct lipstick shade and eyeliner she wanted then.  Overall, I am pretty happy with I picked up for myself. For one they do make a good product and secondly you really can’t beat the price as far as I’m concerned.  Thirdly, I feel this is worth mentioning, Kiko stores offer their customers a great shopping experience as well, which I think is priceless.  If you’re interested in checking out the range click Kiko Makeup Milano and then select your country of origin, otherwise, you may have to take a shot in the dark or use Google Translate.  Also, I was unable to find out if they will ship to countries outside of Europe or the UK, sorry ladies.  If you could let me know if you’ve tried out Kiko products and what you think of them or if you have any recommendations by commenting down below, that would be greatly appreciated.

As I mentioned above I will be stopping back in Kiko on my next trip down to München to get Mayti’s correct items and to pick up a few more things for myself as well.  I’m thinking maybe another lip product as well as some more of their shadows.  They had some that looked like they could have been dupes for MAC’s Mineralize Eye Shadows and the Water Eye Shadows also looked super pigmented and beautiful as well.  Once I put everything to the test I will post reviews and swatches of everything but I will say this, I am loving the Heavenly Ultra Glossy Stylo so far.  I almost forgot to mention the new bag I picked up the same day from the Puma Headquarters Outlet, which I am totally loving.  Not only is it roomy, it’s the right size to fit all of my stuff as well as the Captains, but it’s my favorite color…GREEN.  As always, thanks for reading and check back soon.
