One Year Blogiversary Giveaway Winners

Congratulations to the giveaway winners, Iris and Valerie!  Also, I would like to thank all who entered and followed the rules.  I truly do appreciate each and every visitor that passes through Girl In The Glasses.  I’ve really enjoyed blogging this past year and I look forward to continuing on this adventure.  As always, thanks for reading and check back soon for more.

One Year Blogiversary Update

I would like to apologize to anyone who may have still wanted to enter the giveaway as it has ended 24 hours earlier than I had planned.  Apparently I made a mistake with the time and date when I created my Rafflecopter widget and unfortunately it is not possible to go back in and extend it one more day.  So just to be clear, no more entries can be made at this time.  Once the winners are chosen I will announce them on here and contact them via e-mail.  As I previously stated, the two winners will have 24 hours from the time I send them an e-mail to respond with their full names and mailing address, otherwise an alternate winner will be chosen.  I sincerely hope that there are no hard feelings and I thank you for your understanding.

My Big Fat China Wish List

Captain Canada just got back from Switzerland and he heads to China this weekend.  So you can probably guess that I am working on a wish list.  Along with a good rice cooker, some nice udon bowls, and anything Hello Kitty I am hoping that he can find Nfu Oh nail polish while he is there as well as some Korean cosmetics.  I already have a few things from Skin 79, Misha, Skinfood, Holika Holika & Baviphat on my list.  However, I was wondering if any of you might have some suggestions.  If you so, please comment below.

I am quite looking forward to getting my hands on some new things.  It seems I’m always coming across different cosmetic products from Korea & Japan and quite frankly, more often than not the packaging is out of this world.  I also feel that being so fair that these products might just work well with my pasty glow in the dark the skin.  By the way, if he comes home with even one bottle of Nfu Oh I will probably faint due to sheer surprise and excitement.  With that said though, I would honestly rather have the Captain at home with myself and the Incredibly Bullie Duo where he belongs.  I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the end of his work travels for a little while at least.  As always, thanks for reading and check back soon.

Where has Girl In The Glasses been?

First of all I am sorry for not posting more often in the last two months.  Life has taken over for one and winter here in Germany is horrible.  Okay, we get very little snow where I live and it’s not as cold as it was living Canada or growing up in the Mitten.  However I would prefer that to wet, gray, gloominess that we tend to experience.  It’s a bit like being stuck in the doldrums but with a whole lot of drizzly cold rain and absolutely no sun.  Seriously, your best chance of seeing the sun is when you get a brief glimpse of it through cracks in the cloud cover or if you jet off to some less depression inducing locale.  So I’m sure that you can imagine it’s not very nice at all and believe me, I am always taken aback by how much if affects our mood.  I swear, even the Incredibly Bullie Duo seem to be plagued by the winter blues.

Back in December, I was very lucky to have been given an early Christmas gift by Captain Canada, which came in the form of a new Canon IXUS 125 HS camera.  While it was incredibly easy to learn the basics and get started,  I have had some issues when it comes to edited my photos and adding my watermark and captions with the program I have always used for such things.  My guess would be that the new photographs are just too much for it handle and I am in severe need of an upgrade.  After struggling and being frustrated I finally got my tech guy on it and downloaded a program called GIMP.  I’ve been giving it a good old college try but I’ve had issues with it as well.  The program keeps having error’s, shutting down suddenly and I end up losing the work I have done.  Needless to say, this has been incredibly frustrating, not to mention that it has been the biggest factor in my absence.  Each time it comes to editing pictures I am overcome with a sense of dread and don’t even want to bother as I know that if it works at all that it will take ages, which quite frankly I don’t have the time to devote to a task that should only take minutes.  Also, I just feel a product review just isn’t as effective or interesting without a photo to accompany it.

I apologize if I sound a bit whiney or as though my blog isn’t important to me since that is most definitely not the case.  It’s just that at the end of the day this isn’t my full-time job, it’s a hobby that I have always enjoyed and I would simply like it to continue to be enjoyable.  Rest assured, I am working on the technical issues as well as some new reviews.  So hopefully I will back to posting, at least on a semi-regular basis, very soon.  For now though, enjoy some cute bullie photo ops with Gemma and Shocker since I firmly believe that any day can be made brighter by a bulldog…or two.
