You may have noticed that in a few recent product reviews that I’ve included whether products are “cruelty free” and or “vegan.” First of all, I’m not trying to hop up on a soap box and preach to you about how you be vegetarian to some degree or that you should be a card carrying member of PETA. Quite frankly, that is not my place and for the record, I am none of those things myself. However, quite a few people in my life are vegan or vegetarian so I know that whether a product is cruelty free or vegan friendly is a strong determining factor when making purchases. Therefore I thought it was important to do my best to include that information for them as well as all the rest of my readers.
I make no proclamations as to being an expert on the so I have been obtaining my information from sites like PETA, Leaping Bunny and even directly from the companies themselves on occasion if they can be bothered to answer my e-mails or give a straight answer on the matter. Through trying to educate myself and researching the subject, a journey that is admittedly still in its early days so bare with me, I have found out one particularly significant thing that I was previously unaware of and that is that just because a product claims to cruelty free, that does NOT in turn mean that it is also vegan friendly. Then there is another whole category of products and companies that simply do not test on animals but don’t belong to either of the other categories.
If this is something that concerns you then the sites I mentioned above are great resources for information. Also, quite a few products even have the Leaping Bunny logo printed on them, which I am sure everyone must have encountered at some point by now, making it super easy to identify them as being cruelty free. So I hope that this has been at least a little bit helpful and I will continue to do my best in the future to provide this information in my reviews. As always, thanks for reading and check back soon.
