Availability:  I picked my Mirror Metallics up from my local DM, although I don’t believe they’re still available there as they only had a limited supply.  However, I have spotted them in Douglas stores in Germany as well.  In the US you can find this collection at CVS, Target, Walgreens, and I recently heard Ulta has them as well now.  For those of you in the UK, these are available at some Boots stores. I’m still not sure where Canadians can find these just yet.  If you’ve spotted them somewhere though, please comment below and let me know.

My Two Cents:  Penny Talk is my least favorite from this collection (I have all five but haven’t gotten around to using No Place Like Chrome just yet).  Don’t get me wrong the formula was just as amazing with this as it has been with the rest of the collection and it really is a beautiful color.  Not to mention the fact that this also has the same amazing chrome like finish as the rest of the Mirror Metallics.  Sadly though, this color just simply did not suit my very fair skin tone.  In fact Penny Talk was almost the same color as my skin just with a mirror finish…so weird I know.  Anyhow, if you have a nice tan or a darker skin tone in general, I think this color would look great on you.  Another thing to be aware of is that once applied, Penny Talk comes off as being much more of a rose gold than a copper color as the name would suggest.

Tips:  Start with clean smooth nails and a good base coat.  I like to gently go over mine with a buffer and a quick swipe of remover before painting my nails in general but especially with metallics. Do multiple thin coats (two worked great for me) rather than fewer thicker coats to achieve a more flawless finish as well.  Also, be sure to have a good amount of polish on your brush at all times.  This will help prevent dragging and unsightly brush strokes that will inevitably result from the polish drying out and becoming too sticky on the brush making it difficult to work with.

I feel so guilty for putting this in the “Loathe It” category because I genuinely really love the Mirror Metallics collection, but Penny Talk just looked so unflattering on me.  Oh well, I guess I can’t complain because I very rarely end up disliking a polish that I ‘ve purchased .  Anyhow, If you know where else this collection is available or of any other colors I may have missed that are dupes or look similar feel free to share below.  As always, thanks for reading and check back soon.

  1. It’s not the best color on me but I think it looks GREAT on you! I think it’s a color I’ll like more in the fall. 🙂
