Before I get down to business, I just wanted to let you know that my nail polish posts are still a work in progress. So please bare with me whilst I work out all the bugs and perfect the format, which I hope will be sooner rather than later. Thank you!
New Rating System: Poor, Okay, Average, Good, Excellent
Collection: Mirror Metallics Summer 2012
Finish: Metallic / Chrome
Base Coat: Essie Sensitivity Base Coat
Top Coat: Seche Vite Fasty Dry Top Coat
Price: €7,95 Germany, $8 (USD), £7.99 (UK)
Availability: I purchased mine at DM, but I’ve also seen the Mirror Metallics in Douglas stores in Germany. In the US you can find this collection at CVS, Target, Walgreens and Ulta. In the UK these are available at some Boots stores. Not sure where Canadians can find these jut yet. If you’ve spotted them in the Great White North, please comment below and let me know.
My Two Cents: I think this collection is wonderful, especially because it’s something different among all the pastels (which I’m so bored with) and neons. I quite liked the subtle blue color of this polish and even Captain Canada commented on how much he liked it. This collection really does have much more of a chrome effect than other metallics I have used. Keep in mind that when applying this polish, it is key to do multiple thinner coats, while still keeping a decent amount of product on the brush to achieve this mirror finish. If your brush is too dry or becomes sticky, you will have streaks and other unsightly flaws.
Something Similar: Cleancolor Ocean Wave 115, Sally Hansen Aqua Chrome, and Layla Mirror Effect Titanium Sky (it’s not as light though).
If you know where else this collection is available or of any other colors I may have missed that are dupes or look similar please comment below to let me know. Also, feel free to let me know what you think of this new format and let me know if there is something I could improve on. As always, thanks for reading and check back soon.
