Eight Really Is Great

The man of my dreams…he’s shy.

Eight years ago, on May 14, 2004 I awoke just as I did every other day, however this day was to be no ordinary day. Instead of my normal beat up blue jeans, and well worn Dropkick Murphy’s t-shirt of choice, I put on a rather uncharacteristically girly, long, full skirted, beautifully beaded white gown with a flowing train with beaded buttons all down the back. I then donned a gorgeous hand crafted silver, pearl and crystal headpiece with an equally lovely beaded veil. Next I put on some Strawberry Shortcake socks for good measure and finished things off with a pair of kick ass white leather velcro Pumas. It was my wedding day.

Although the flowers, the dress, the cake and every other detail of that day was both perfect and spectacular, it was in fact the man waiting at the end of that wedding aisle that made that day so very special. I am one of those lucky girls who not only married a man that complimented her and enhanced her life, but who was also truly her best friend. He is the most amazing, kind, caring, patient, and loyal person I have had the sincere pleasure of knowing.

Perhaps some were skeptical as we were young, but after eight years, we are still together, still incredibly happy, and still very much in love. It has not always been a smooth and easy road to travel but we have in fact traveled it together and overcome each and every obstacle together as well. As much as we enjoy the good times, it is the difficult times that I have come to truly appreciate because those are the moments which have taught us the most and brought us closer.

Thank you for all that you are, all that you give of yourself, for always being there for me, and most of all for loving me unconditionally. Happy anniversary to my wonderful husband. I love you so very much!
